With nostalgia, we look back on sword fighting and traditional fighting methods. The fighting glove means to emulate the sounds that made fighting so special. In martial arts, costumes are often worn to make the viewing experience more visually appealing, however, these costumes fail to consider the listening experience. Cats, birds, dogs and other animals all make loud noises during a fight to scare their opponent, yet when humans fight, you often only hear whimpering and skin hitting skin. This synth brings back the sonic grace in (competitive fighting) using technology.

the tech

How does it work?

The synth is made of 2 parts, the glove and the sleeve. The glove has a pressure sensor made from Velostat. On the sleeve, metal charms are hanging from the bottom. The charms clash and hit each other when moved quickly and make a ringing sound, which is picked up by a lovemic built into the sleeve. The lovemic and the Velostat connect to a Daisy seed which manipulates and distorts the audio depending on how much the velostat senses pressure.
