Step in under the chime tree and be mesmerised by its fruit. When stirred, the fruit start ringing and lighting up in organic random patterns triggered by the pendulums hanging from them. Each strike of the clapper makes the fruit itself sing and light up as well as trigger a sonic reaction from the tree itself. Like rings on an acoustic pond. Move through the hanging fruit like the wind, and experience the song of the chime tree.
CONCEPT & DESIGN

How does it work?
Fruit of the chime tree is a hybrid instrument, both acoustic and electronic. Each chime is also a momentary switch. As the clapper in each fruit strikes the body, the contact made sends a signal that triggers the light inside as well as an electronic sound to mirror the acoustic sound. The synthesised sound was added in post. Thanks to Casper Koomen (DAE) for help with sound design.
