Musical improvisation is one of the oldest technniques in the history of composition. Sometimes, it may be hard to understand, and so the Improvizer was created: a retro-style arcade machine with different classic buttons and a joystick connected to an LED ring that aims to encourage users to experiment with it. It has a different button for each music mode playing random notes, a joystick that controls the ammount of notes being played and the speed at which they are being played and a special button that plays the set mode in order, to hear the notes without improvisation.

How does it work?

The Improvizer has a different buttons for each music mode playing random notes, a joystick that controls the ammount of notes being played and the speed at which they are being played and a special button that plays the set mode in order, to hear the notes without improvisation. The joystick is composed by 2 potentiometers which are connected to the buttons through the code, controling the data stored in which one. The power supply is connected by an USB cable and the audio output is an audiojack. The sound library is a feature of the Teensy microcontroller.
