The heavy, cold steel object, initially cold and unfamiliar, gives you the power to warp your reality and shift seamlessly between past and present. Rhythm becomes its own material to break through and manipulate as your movements control the audio-visual tapestry. Journey through the blurred boundaries of time, where the echoes of memory intertwine and fear fades into the past as you embrace the mysteries that lie beyond.

How does it work?

The magic of sylder is facilitated by a gyroscope sensor which is able to detect the tilt and acceleration of the steel cylinder. The free movements of the performer as they move from states of fear to trust in the unknown are translated into an interactive audio visual experience. The information on movement from the gyroscope sensor is connected to Arduino, which sends data over OSC protocol to TouchDesigner. From this, TD communicates with Arduino to control the generative metal instrument via sound and visuals. The performer holds the power to create their own audio-visual display with their live manipulation of the steel object. The levels of distortion appear initially disconnected, but as you accept and move through the state of the unknown, you are able to harness your own rhythm.
